The Developing Your Organisation publication is distributed on the understanding that (1) the authors and editors are not responsible for the results of any actions taken on the basis of information in this work, nor for any errors or omissions; and (2) the publisher is not engaged in rendering legal, accounting or other professional services. The publisher, authors and editors expressly disclaim all and any liability to any person, whether they are a purchaser of this publication or not, in respect of anything and of the consequences of anything done or omitted to be done by such person in reliance, whether whole or partial, upon the whole or any part of the contents of this publication. If legal advice or other expert assistance is required, the services of a competent legal person or other expert should be sought.

Developing Your Organisation was first published in 1994 by the Queensland Government Department of Families for use by the Department's funded organisations and its resource officers.

The then Centre of Philanthropy and Nonprofit Studies(CPNS) at the Queensland University of Technology was funded by the Department of Communities in 2005 to revise and expand the publication. Developing Your Organisation was updated in 2006 and 2008 to include new legislative measures and reforms to the laws of incorporated associations, public collections, privacy or taxation.

The Project has a reference group of nonprofit peak and government representatives to which CPNS is indebted for their helpful comments and suggestions on the DYO publication and web site.

Further comments can be made by e mail or post to The Director, The Australian Centre for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Studies, Faculty of Business, Queensland University of Technology, Gardens Point Campus, GPO Box 2434, BRISBANE, QLD 4001
